Grand Seiko SBGE201

The SBGE201 is unique among Grand Seiko’s lineup as it’s one of the only watches with a sapphire bezel. Sapphire is used in watchmaking because it’s extremely difficult to scratch, being harder even than steel. Thus the face of this watch is unusually tough. It’s also unusually bright, thanks to generous doses of lume on the hands, indices and even the numerals on the bezel. The spring drive 9R66 movement is used, which adds a GMT hand to track a second time zone. Like all true GMT watches, the hour hand is independent. Furthermore, thanks to spring drive technology, although the watch has a beautiful automatic movement, it has the accuracy of a quartz.
